Here We Are – Echo Location

Project Description

Here we Are was an experiment in mapping and storytelling, using mail art and cyanotypes to memorialise people’s experience of social distancing under COVID19.

Here We Are documented the places where people spent the COVID19 lockdown, and what they learned during the time of less travel and staying at home through cyanotype printmaking and storytelling workshops. The project explored how material practice can provide a framework for conversation about personal experience of collective crisis and act as an antedote to an increased focus in online engagement with culture. Here We Are was presented as in person workshops in partnership with Darwin Community Arts, and through mail art and zoom workshops targeting people living in Victoria during the Stage 4 Lockdown.
