Project Description

Here we Are is a mapping and storytelling project, memorialising people’s experience of social distancing under COVID19.

Through cyanotype prints of house hold objects, Here We Are  documents where people spent the COVID19 lockdown, and what they learned during the time of less travel and staying at home. In it’s development phase, the project explores how material practice can provide a framework for conversation about personal experience of collective crisis and act as an antedote to an increased focus in online engagement with culture. Cyanotypes will be used to  form a map of people in place, with a short reflective peice of writing created by participants used to create a key to the map.

The first stage of this project is happening within the Darwin community through one on one conversations and small community workshops and within the Melbourne community through mail art.
