Project Description

Postcards to the Future is an NT wide mail art project to support communities to reflect and grow from and through the time of COVID19.

COVID19 has caused profound disruption to everyday life, with changes across the work, home and social sphere occurring alongside broader regional, national and international upheaval.

As Arundhati Roy writes
“Historically, pandemics have forced humans to break with the past and imagine their world anew. This one is no different. It is a portal, a gateway between one world and the next.”

Postcards to the Future uses postcards as a time capsule to create a bridge between these two worlds, capturing a moment in time, created in this pandemic portal, and stored by DCA, to be posted back into the post pandemic world.

Over 130 people responded to the invitation to  reflect on something they have noticed or learned during the social, cultural and economic changes caused by COVID-19 that they would like to remember and carry forward into a post pandemic world.
